Five Little Peppers and How They Grew

The narrator is introducing the main characters and the kids are planing a party for their mother's birthday and how they will celebrate it. I have 3 questions about it 1:Why would they talk about one of their birthdays? 2:Why do they not have a dad? 3:Why are they not sad about not having a dad?

                                                             At-Home Prom Carlee Castillo and her dad, Chris Castillo have a at-home Prom together. Carlee's mother, Sheila Castillo picks up a special dinner from Carlee's favorite Italian restaurant, and Carlee and her father have a special dinner just for the two afterwords they took picture of the two. The they would dance to music. The had this special at-home prom because of the coronavirus the special school events were canceled. It would great my parents would do this for me.

At a the National zoo it’s only giant panda  cub has its 1st birthday. The zoo keepers make an edible cake  for the panda (Bei Bei). That draws a crowd to the giant panda pen to see Bei Bei. The cake  is made out of bugs and fruits such as melons,apples,bananas,and kiwi and also bamboo. If I were a panda and I would love  that cake. It would probably be the best birthday ever.
